Our current projects:

Bird Watching Hide at the Big Sioux Recreation Area in Hawarden.

  • The Sioux County Conservation Board and Sioux County Conservation Foundation are partnering to construct a Bird Watching Blind at the Big Sioux Recreation Area outside of Hawarden.
  • The Big Sioux Recreation area is a hotspot for migrating bird species and a favorite for bird watchers of all ages. The blind will give birdwatchers a place to observe wetland birds (and animals) without disturbing them or being seen. The blind will be positioned looking out on to the wetland. Countless duck species, herons, bald eagles, osprey, white pelicans, geese, swans and river otters have been seen using this area! 
  • Blind will be 12' by 24' and handicapped accessible.
  • Sponsorship levels of any amount. Gifts of $500+ will be recognized on the project.
  • Timeline: To be Completed in 2026-- Goal May
